Spanish police said yesterday they had picked up a British paedophile based on the Costa del Sol who passed himself off as a famous pop music agent looking for talented youngsters.

The man was named by a Spanish newspaper as a Mr Wood, though police would only confirm his age as 55 and his initials, FWW.

Police said they had found pictures and video film at his home of someone abusing an 11-year-old British girl, whom Wood had allegedly drugged after fooling her parents into letting him take her to Madrid for two days.

Wood's name had been included on a British list of dangerous paedophiles, according to Spanish police who said that, nevertheless, they had no idea he was living in Spain.

Police were yesterday investigating films and photographs found at three houses that reportedly belonged to Wood to see whether he had been involved in abusing more young girls while in Spain.
