Preview - Utah Jazz

Will this finally be the year that the Jazz fall from the top of the Western Conference?
Utah Jazz

2000 Record: (53-29), 2nd in Midwest Division

Player Losses: Jacque Vaughn, Danny Manning, Olden Polynice.

Player Additions: John Amaechi, Andrei Kirilenko, Jarron Collins.

Projected Starting Five:

Center - John Amaechi (6'10" 270 lbs.)
Forward - Karl Malone (6'9" 260 lbs.)
Forward - Bryon Russell (6'7" 225 lbs.)
Guard - John Starks (6'5" 180 lbs.)
Guard - John Stockton (6'1" 175 lbs.)

This may be Utah's last chance to compete for the Midwest Division crown. They added a decent low post scoring threat in John Amaechi to compliment Karl Malone. As usual, Utah hopes rely on John Stockton and Karl Malone. This is a problem because you have to wonder how long they can keep up their high level of play. Utah's young players have not made any real contributions to the team's success, and that will have to change if they are to be competitive now and in the future. Expect the Jazz to be dismissed early in the playoffs.
