Preview - Minnesota Timberwolves
Could this be the year that Kevin Garnett and the T'Wolves get out of the first round of the playoffs?
Minnesota Timberwolves
2000 Record: (47-35), 4th in Midwest Division
Player Losses: LaPhonso Ellis, Reggie Slater.
Player Additions: Joe Smith, Gary Trent, Loren Woods, Maurice Evans.
Projected Starting Five:
Center - Joe Smith (6'10" 230 lbs.)
Forward - Kevin Garnett (7'0" 220 lbs.)
Forward - Wally Sczerbiak (6'7" 240 lbs.)
Guard - Chauncey Billups (6'3" 200 lbs.)
Guard - Terrell Brandon (5'11" 175 lbs.)
Minnesota bolstered their front line by signing Joe Smith and Gary Trent, and drafting Loren Woods. Smith will help Kevin Garnett battle teams in the West like San Antonio and the Los Angeles Lakers who have dominant low post players. Terrell Brandon will need to remain injury free to lead this team deep into the playoffs. Chauncey Billups will have to become more productive or he will be replaced in the starting line up. The T'Wolves made improvements, but they will still have a tough time getting out of the first round of the playoffs.
