Still not worried... Pats 10, Packers 28
The Sinista1 attended this Sunday's game and admits he is not worried about the state of the team at this time. Find out why, and you may learn a thing or two.
I'm going to start off by giving my man Sully, a.k.a. "Disgruntled Fan," his props for making it into the Boston Herald Monday morning.
So, the P-Men drop a game to the Green Packers, and once again the Sinista1 is not the slightest bit worried. If you go back and read my article from the off season, "Sinista Does Miss Cleo," you'd see that this was one of those games I predicted that the Pats would lose even though WR Terry Glenn wasn't much of a factor.
Now once again, I hate to remind people, but I did say this was going to be a 10-6 team. They've only played six games, and the toughest part of the schedule will end with the match up against the Broncos on the 27th, which in all honesty is a game for the Broncos. They'll come into Foxboro with a possible win over the Chiefs making them 5-2. At this time, all the talk will be how the Pats are 3-3 with a three game losing streak and QB Tom Brady is off his mark. Thus, possibly, setting up the Broncos to look past the Pats for that match up with the Raiders. We all know what happens then...
Let's look back to last year... The Pats were on a roll, and all of the media and pre-game hosts were blowing up about how Brady had not thrown one pick. The team goes into Mile High and what happens. He get his first, and then some. It was so bad he was on the sideline being consoled by QB Drew Bledsoe.
Well, it's not so much different this time. This time the Pats are coming off the bye week and Brady's heading into this game throwing one or more picks in his last five games. Granted the Pats have been throwing the ball a lot this season, but Brady is partly the cause of it.
I'll get into Brady in another article this week.
Now since we are on the topic of last year, let's just go into last year and every past year for our boys in blue. October has always been the down month for the Patriots. The nickname for Bill Parcells when he was here was Mr. November, and just last season the Pats didn't get above .500 until their win over the Bills on November 12th. Since that date, the Pats hadn't been over .500 since 1999.
Another reason why I'm not worried still. It's only week six, two weeks before the halfway point. A lot more ball has to be played.
Right now the Pats are not on the same page as a team. They have some injuries upfront on the O-line with Joe Andruzzi, and defensively with CB Ty Law.
Thank God for the bye week because I do not want to see Ben Kelly on the field ever again.
While injuries are a good reason why a team loses games, this is not the case with the Pats. The Pats are just giving games away on silver platters with missed tackles again this weekend, poor throws by Brady, inept decisions by the coaching staff (O-line tinkering and play calling), defense letting up from the lull defense on third downs, and most of all the penalties. The stinkin', no concentration, penalties. Now I know there have been some questionable calls including Sunday, and I have mixed feelings about holding calls.
You can call a holding penalty on almost every play in the NFL, but I think it's up to the ref's discretion to decide if that hold effects the play's outcome. Right now some refs aren't doing that.
But my thoughts are beside the fact. The sad fact is that the Pats have been penalized 46 times for 444 yards!!!
I think it's time for Bill Belichick to start levying fines for some of these guys. Hit a guy in the pocket, and you'll be damn sure he's buying one round less at the Foxy Lady on their free night. It has to stop because it's hurting this team in a big way.
Which brings me to the last reason why I'm not worried about this team.
This team's roster is attractive on paper right now, but on the field, they're losing games. They also haven't lost by getting beat physically (with the exception of the Dolphins first half). They've lost by beating themselves from the coaching staff down to the third string. That is something that can be fixed with the proper attitude adjustments and changes. Thus the reason why we have the bye week.
