Superman Is Back
The most popular fictional superhero of all time scheduled to make a comeback next year.
10: Superman, the man of steel, is all set to sweep into next generation, staging a comeback to Earth next June after a gap of several years, in an action adventure.
The film, Superman returns, was shot in and around Sydney mid-August and will be released by Warner Bros on June 30, next year.
"Rather than being a remake of the original movie, the film explores Superman`s influence on our global culture and the impact of his return to earth after an absence of several years" says Director Bryan Singer.
Following a mysterious absence of several years, one of the world’s most beloved superheroes comes back to earth. While an old enemy plots to render him powerless once and for all, Superman faces the heartbreaking realization that he loves, Lois Lane, has moved on with her life, a Warner Bros release said.
Superman’s return challenges him to bridge the distance between them while finding a place in a society that has learned to survive without him.
In an attempt to protect the world he loves from cataclysmic destruction, Superman embarks on an epic journey of redemption that takes him from the depths of the ocean to the far reaches of the outer space.
The film stars newcomer Brandon Routh, Kate Bosworth and Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, James Marsden, Academy Award winner Eva Marie Saint, Kal Penn and Sam Huntington.
It is being produced by Jon Peters, Bryan Singer and Gilbert Adler from a screenplay by Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. The Executive Producer is Chris Lee.
Superman, the first comic-book superhero, debuted in action comics in 1938. The superman legend has been retold countless times in comic books and reinterpreted in virtually every creative medium, including films, television, radio, theatre and animation.
An international poll of cinegoers has found Superman to be the most popular fictional superhero of all time. The comic book star, most memorably played by late Christopher Reeve, was chosen by cinegoers ahead of Spiderman and Batman.
