Henman Returns With a Win

Tennis: Tim Henman stepped out of Andy Murray's shadow with a straight sets victory in his return to action in Vienna.
Tim Henman advanced to round two of the indoor BA-CA Trophy in Vienna by beating Frenchman Antony Dupuis in straight sets.

Henman, a wild-card entry, booked his place in the last 16 with a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

It was the British No1's first match since the US Open in August, having been plagued by a back injury which kept him out of action.

Dupuis, who has claimed just one singles title in his career compared to Henman's 11, made life difficult for his 31-year-old British rival in the first set on centre court.

With the score level at 5-5 the set looked destined to be decided by a tie-break but Henman upped a gear to break serve.

Dupuis won the first game of the second set against the serve, but it did not take Henman long to draw level as he clinched the second game before opening up a 5-2 advantage.

Although Dupuis reacted by taking the eighth game, that only delayed Henman's charge to victory.

Henman's next opponent will be the winner of the match between Radek Stepanek and Luis Horna, which is scheduled for tomorrow.
