Preview - Philadelphia 76ers
The Sixers made some off season moves to get younger, but it will stop them from repeating as Eastern Conference champions.
Philadelphia 76ers
2000 Record: (56-26), Eastern Conference and Atlantic Division Champions
Player Losses: Todd MacCulloch, Tyrone Hill, Jumaine Jones, Rodney Buford, Kevin Ollie, Roshown McLeod
Player Additions: Matt Harpring, Cedric Henderson, Robert Traylor, Jerome Moiso, Samuel Dalembert, Damone Brown, Alvin Jones
Projected Starting Five:
Center - Dikembe Mutumbo (7'2" 255 lbs.)
Forward - George Lynch (6'8" 230 lbs.)
Forward - Aaron McKie (6'5" 210 lbs.)
Guard - Allen Iverson (6'0" 165 lbs.)
Guard - Eric Snow - (6'3" 205 lbs.)
Philadelphia lost some of their key players from last year's run to the finals, and replaced them with young, inexperienced players. Health is also a concern, since Allen Iverson and Aaron McKie may not be ready by the Sixers first game after off season surgery. Philadelphia had a lot of luck in getting to finals, but they will need a lot more if they are to hold off Toronto and Orlando. The Sixers should make the second round of the playoffs and then be eliminated.
