Hilary Swank and Chad Lowe Split

Swank’s manager, Troy Nankin, said in statement, "Hilary and Chad have decided to separate, but they are hopeful they’ll be able to get through this tough time." No official reason was given for the split. The couple met at a party in 1992 and was married in September 1997. It was a first marriage for both and they did not have any children. Lowe’s agent David Rose said the actor would not be making any comments on the split.

In an interview in 2003 Swank talked of meeting Lowe saying, "I went to a party with Leo DiCaprio and Chad was there. We just started talking." She said it was "love at first sight." Lowe added, "It was like the old cliché where you see somebody, lock eyes across the room, and time stands still." In an interview last summer, the couple announced they had adopted two parrots named Seuss and Angel. Said Lowe, "(Hilary and I) are very eager to have kids, and having parrots is great baby training."

Swank is a two time Oscar winner for 199’s Boys Don’t Cry and 2004’s Million Dollar Baby. She is next starring in Brian DePalma’s adaptation of James Ellroy’s The Black Dahlia alongside Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson. Lowe, brother of actor Rob Lowe, has not shared his wife’s "blockbuster success," but won an Emmy Award in 1993 for his portrayal of an AIDS sufferer on ABC’s Life Goes On. They always appeared to be one of Hollywood’s genuinely in love couples who has a deep love and respect for one another, so maybe they will be able to work through their troubles.
