A US federal appeals court yesterday upheld the convictions of Martha Stewart, the celebrity businesswoman, and her stockbroker Peter Bogdanovic.

Both were convicted in March 2004 of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and other charges stemming from an investigation into Ms Stewart's sale of shares in the company ImClone Systems three years earlier.

Ms Stewart served five months in prison and five months home confinement. She came back with two TV programmes. Her version of The Apprentice was cancelled after one season, although she has had more success with a chat show.
