Portugal is truly heaven on earth

For me Portugal, is truly heaven on earth; the delightful southern European culture, striking beaches decorated with small cliffs, enchanting grottoes and excellent cuisine-especially the seafood. Over here at RedTag.ca , we constantly update Cheap Flights and Vacation Packages

Portugal is surrounded by Spain to the north and the east and the Atlantic Ocean cradles it on the western and southern sides. Algarve is the entire southern region of Portugal, the most south western part of Eurpoeand just north of Morocco- separated only by a thin strip of Atlantic Ocean. The region claims to have the cleanest overall environment in all of Europe.

ALGARVE:

Algarve is comprised of 16 districts and is easy to cross with one major highway spanning the entire southern end of Portugal. You will find that vacation packages usually include all of the southern districts including Faro, Albufeira, Portimao, Lagos and Villa Do Bispo because the entire area boasts beautiful vistas and generally, a relaxing, almost utopian way of life. The southern region of Portugal is a brightly colored region and is abundant with fig and almond trees and its fertile ground spawns Europe’s most prosperous orange groves as well as other fruit cultivations. The landscape on the coastline is a lively mix of sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and incredible grottoes.

The Faro district is where the south of Portugal’s largest airport is located. This sleepy university town has a few small beaches that are easily accessible but the main allure for tourists are the inland attractions such as ancient cathedrals and medieval towns such as Estoi.

Albufeira is a popular vacation area because it boasts almost 20 separate beaches. Since Albufeira’s coast contains an abundance of resorts and easily accessible beaches (the cliffs are further back as opposed to most of Portugal’s southern coast). The night life echoes this busy tourist scene and when the sun goes down meet your fellow beach lovers at the many bars, discos and restaurants that dot the area. Golf lovers will also be delighted, as there are challenging golf courses spread throughout Albufeira.

The Portimao region has become one of the hottest vacation destinations in the south. The chic beach town of Praia da Rocha has world renown beaches with fine golden sand as far as the eye can see, calm azure waters, beautiful cliffs that kiss the ocean and odd shaped rocks that protrude out of the water.

LISBON:

Lisbon boasts springtime temperatures in the winter and hot summers with cool breezes constantly coming in from the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the fastest growing cities in Europe as well as the oldest. Even though Lisbon has been the capital of Portugal since the Moors conquered the country in 1147, it has recently become a cultural and economic powerhouse in Europe. In 2004 the world had its eyes fixed on Portugal as it hosted the European Cup of Soccer and on Lisbon as it hosted the final game!

Other than the exquisite shopping, exciting nightlife, restaurants serving delicious Mediterranean dishes and interesting museums and landmarks, Lisbon is surrounded by the coast- which means hundreds of pristine white sandy beaches right at your footstep. The international airport sits just outside of the city as well.
