Life Is Like That

An allegory on how in life we miss to appreciate and connect with empathy those small, wonderful and beautiful things in the world.
The other day I was at the reception of one of the plush office I have ever visited in my last over four decades..

The wait was understandably long and I had no reasons to crib for I was deeply engaged in admiring it!. I could not take my eyes off from the work of art hung on the wall in an exquisite frame.

It must be costing a couple of thousands I thought and could not resist the curiosity to check the price with the receptionist.

What she quoted and I re-confirmed (what I heard) was almost like someone taking away half of my annual salary.

I could not believe the price of the priceless possession.

While I was letting the price slowly sink in, as if suddenly my mind went a bit astray and traveled at tangent beyond (rather behind) the frame.

I thought of those 'nails & screws' at work beholding the beauty so immaculately from behind.

I didn't check the cost of the nails & screws; lest the lady thinks I have gone 'nuts'.

Well those small creatures touched me somewhere deep inside and I felt myself getting instantaneously connected to them.

I wanted to see them, touch them and feel for them and if possible say 'Hello' to them for the wonderful job that they were doing.

"You may go in" she said.

I picked up my brief case kissing goodbye to those unknown, unseen 'nails & screws' on the wall. They meant a lot to me or may be I saw myself in those hidden treasures.

Life is like that, like it or not.
