Anna Nicole Loses Inheritance
A federal appeals court threw out a 2002 lower court ruling that awarded Anna Nicole Smith 88.5 million of her late husband's fortune.
Poor Anna Nicole. She married her late husband for money and now it looks like she may end up not receiving a penny from the union. 26-year old Anna Nicole Smith married 89-year old J. Howard Marshall after meeting at a strip club in 1994 under the guise of "true love." J. Howard died a mere fourteen months later. Surely Anna was heartbroken.
Smith claims that she is entitled to the "multimillion-dollar gift" because Marshall had agreed to take care of her before he passed away. In March 2002, U.S. District Court Judge David Carter agreed with the former Playboy pin-up. In his 80-page ruling, Carter said that although the relationship of Smith and Marshall was "driven by greed and lust" the judge was "convinced of his love for her." Last week a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled against Carter stating, "It is undisputed that Texas law governs the 1982 trust and the last will and testament of J. Howard Marshall."
Marshall's son Pierce has feverishly fought against Smith receiving any of his father's money claiming "Miss Cleavage", as he refers to her, of milking his father out of nearly $7 million worth of gifts when he was senile and dying. While Pierce is doing a little jog of happiness, Smith could not be reached for comment. Her attorney, Philip Boesch, may appeal the decision to the entire 9th Circuit Court. When is enough enough already? Does she really deserve any of his money, let alone almost $100 million of it??? Take your TrimSpa and be done with it, Anna.
