Communication Overload

Today's digital world has provided endless means of communication tools. Barriers of distance, speed and time no longer hold importance, but is today's technology itself creating overload of communication? Will a personal one-to-one talk soon become a myth that happens once in a while? Find out....
Email, chat, SMS, MMS, Net Telephony, Video Conferencing, Mobile to Messenger Chat and fax - these are today's digital and high-tech methods of communication. Everyday thousands of text or voice messages are transferred from one part of the world to another within seconds. But does it mean that people are communicating more prudishly and wisely now that the means are so easy and cheap to communicate one's thoughts?

Our ancestors scribbled and drew figures on rocks and in caves. They communicated with signs and actions. Slowly languages developed and as time went by, these languages became more sophisticated and descriptive. Every possible emotion could now be conveyed with the help of words. Literature was created to pass on to coming generations through books, music and other form of arts. More the means of communication, more civilized the man became.

When digital age arrived, it overtook all other forms of communication… and barriers of distance, time and speed became negligible. People could now share a long conversation with their loved ones based thousands of miles apart as though they were sitting right beside them. World grew smaller.

Although, if we are to analyze our improved state of interaction, it turns out that not only we are dependant on current technology to the point of considering it as our basic need, but most of the times we misuse the very nature of its working and generate far more communication overload than required. Messages like jokes, advertisements and greetings crowd the digital routes and sometimes make important communication impossible to send and receive. The signals coming out of the mobile phones cause damage to our heart and even other creatures like birds who mix up these signals with their own meant for guiding and migration.

Post-offices round the globe now maintain a deserted look, now that people transmit their letters and messages anywhere at a click of a button. An indirect evil of this phenomenon is our increasing discomfort for walking or moving. Lethargy has seeped into our lives making way for diseases like obesity, heart failure, inability to interact socially and personally, etc.

We will soon be watching the ills of communication overload on the mobiles and TV's, on the "health" channels and topics, the never-ending list on the never-ending digital space at our service. It's a pity we are accustomed more to play the latest game on your gadgets than take an evening stroll just to relax from the daily routine of work.
