Heather Graham Blasts The Catholic Church
Heather Graham, the sexy star, who has appeared in "Boogie Nights" and "Austin Powers," has spoken out against the Church and its views on sexuality.
In a recent interview with Talk magazine, Graham has accused the Church of being little more than "a group of closed-minded men who believe that women's sexuality is 'evil'." Graham, who notes that she enjoys flaunting her sexuality onscreen, also noted that the Church and its views stifled her sexuality as she was growing up. "Why do I have to do what all these men are saying? Why is a woman's sexuality supposed to be so evil?"
Graham goes on to explain her difficulty with relationships as she grew up, troubles which she also attributes to the close-minded views of Catholicism. She notes, "I was afraid to put myself on the line. I would always try to go out with someone who liked me more than I liked them. That way if they hurt you, you say, 'Oh, I was never really into them'."
Graham's views have led to problems with her relationship with her parents, whom she has not spoken to in over six years. It has been reported that the communication problems began after they strenuously objected to the sex scenes in her film "Two Girls and a Guy." Though her parents have attempted to contact her over the years, she has shied away from a reunion, saying, "I know how it probably looks to people: Oh God, I'm not talking to my parents. But at the same time, I think that you have to take care of yourself. Surround yourself with people that think good things about you."
