Lizzie Grubman Up Against New Attorney
A new prosecuting attorney was recently assigned to the Lizzie Grubman case in the hopes that Lizzie will be punished for her actions.
A new hot-shot prosecutor out to convict Lizzie Grubman for running over Hamptons club patrons took her first crack at the case yesterday, and she seems confident that she’ll get the conviction. In her first comments on the case, new prosecutor Joy Watson seems supremely confident in the evidence that her team has gathered. "It certainly seems as though all of the charges are provable," she said. "We are certainly prepared to take it to trial." Watson is a 16-year veteran of the Nassau County DA’s office and her track record is nearly impeccable.
Although Ms. Watson is typically assigned to murder and rape cases, she was brought in to handle the high profile Grubman prosecution after the original prosecutor inadvertently employed Grubman’s former private investigator, thus creating a conflict of interest. Lizzie certainly did not seem overwhelmed by her new legal adversary and appeared relaxed as she sat with her blonde hair pulled back in a pony tail. She spoke easily with her legal team and her entourage and was dressed in a grey suit with black boots.
Grubman, whose 31st birthday is tomorrow, has entered pleas of not guilty to charges of assault, drunken driving and fleeing an accident scene. It is alleged that 16 people were injured when Grubman recklessly backed her SUV out of the parking lot of a club in the Hamptons. Reports from witnesses that evening suggest that Grubman was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. She did not stop after striking the bystanders and was arrested later that night at the home of her friend, who lives in the area.
