Kidman’s request for a restraining order against two Aussie photogs comes on the heels of the discovery of an "eavesdropping device" found Sunday in a garden near a security post across the street from Kidman’s home. Kidman’s security team found the device during a routine check of the property and in preparation of Kidman’s arrival in town. Kidman was set to begin shooting a new romantic movie co-starring Russell Crowe and Geoffrey Rush slated to start filming next month. Jamie Fawcett and another unnamed photographer were served papers on behalf of Kidman, notifying them that a petition for a restaining order had been filed in Waverly Local Court on Thursday.
Fawcett’s attorney, Roland Day, said, "Ms. Kidman appears to be trying to control how the media covers her personal and public life." Kidman and Co. think that the device was planted to record conversations between the Aussie redhead and her team of bodyguards. The authorities are hoping to identify the perp from tapes made by a surveillance camera. If identified he would most likely face a number of charges such as trespassing and illegal use of a telecommunications device.
No word from Kidman’s publicist, but her father Anthony Kidman, said that the paparazzi had been stalking his daughter since she returned to Australia. Daddy Kidman said, "She’s concerned that people will not let her alone – she’s here to make a film, she wants to promote Australia and she’s almost a prisoner in her own house as a result. I would be very pleased if people would just let her get on with her life – she makes herself available for pictures in many instances." Nice try, Dad, but the paparazzi don’t seem to mind much that she is a "prisoner" in her own home. Unfortunately, she is in the public eye and therefore she is fair game.
