Nude: Gwyneth Paltrow Should Keep Her Clothes ON

In a recent British magazine poll of female stars “who should never be seen naked,” Gwyneth Paltrow ranked a surprising 4th.
Although sure to meet with arguments with some of her fans from around the world, Gwyneth Paltrow recently received the dubious honor by Total Film magazine of being in the top 5 female stars “who should never be seen naked.” Nudity has increasingly become a part of mainstream filmmaking over the last three decades and moviegoers have come to expect a bit of skin in any flick that has garnered a PG-13 rating or beyond. Gwyneth’s most well known foray into onscreen nudity occurred during her recent Oscar-winning performance in Shakespeare In Love. Thought by many to be one of the most naturally beautiful and talented actors working today, Paltrow may be surprised to learn that she fell only three places behind Roseanne Barr on the list of female stars who should only reveal themselves in private.

As other film giants such as Angelina Jolie and Heather Graham continue to include lauded nude scenes among their onscreen repertoires, it leads you to wonder whether or not it is the attitude that makes for a great nude actor, as opposed to their appearance. It cannot be argued that Gwyneth is one of the most captivating talents in the biz, but does she portray the types of characters that can be comfortably “inserted” into situations involving nudity on the screen?

One thing is certain, and that is that nudity as a form of artistic expression is continuing to move forward into mainstream entertainment. Many would argue that that is for the best, although it is not known whether Gwyneth will be as quick to agree to any nude scenes in the near future.
