Ethan Zohn Survives Survivor: Africa and Wins $1 Million
Soccer goalie, Ethan Zohn, survived the wilds of Africa to collect a $1 million prize and world-wide fame as the winner of the third Survivor. Zohn, 27, joined 15 other contestants last summer in Kenya for a grueling 39 days. He was quoted in People magazine, "I wanted to play hard, play fair, and prove you don’t have to be an evil back-stabbing villain to do well in this game." Well, he did, making it to the final Tribal Council and being picked as the winner.
Zohn hasn’t let fame go to his head even though he has appeared on such shows as Live with Regis and Kelly and The Late Show with David Letterman. He claims he is not the type of guy to "get all fancy and go Hollywood." He shares an apartment in Manhattan with two friends and remains true to his longtime steady, Diana Richards, about whom he says "I was with her before the show and I’m with her now."
While in Kenya he lost a significant amount of weight with a diet consisting of fried gruel and even drinking a glass of cow’s blood mixed with milk. He said the toughest part was "dealing with all the plotting." Zohn does keep in touch with fellow "Survivors" Tom Buchanan and runner-up Kim Johnson. He is still unsure of how to spend his earnings, but has said he has thought of possibly using the money to "fund a soccer league for underprivileged kids." Zohn was quoted as saying, "I like my life as it is. I don’t think I am going to try and change it that much."
