Lies and politics: Are they the same?
The holocaust of World War II is now just a "myth"....say politicians! Those who were there say differently....
The following info was found at www.ifapray.org:
(The Guardian, 1/16/06)
In a provocative move, Iran announced plans to convene a "scientific" conference to examine the evidence supporting the Holocaust.
The news comes weeks after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad provoked a global outcry by describing the slaughter of 6 million Jews by the Nazis in the Second World War as a "myth".
(European Jewish Press, 1/16/06) The Association of Islamic Journalists will organize the conference.
On the list of invitees will be Holocaust revisionist scholars from around the globe. It is believed British revisionist historian David Irving, currently in custody in Austria on charges of Holocaust denial, is also to be invited. His literature is widely available in Iran.
Israeli Foreign Ministry spokesman Mark Regev said the world should be very concerned about Iran’s radical ideology.
He said: "The Holocaust denial by the regime in Iran is not only offensive and racist, but it also demonstrates the mindset of the extremist regime in Tehran." Regev added: "The combination of an extremist ideology, a distorted view of reality, together with nuclear weapons is a combination that should concern every thinking individual."
INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR HOLOCAUST REMEMBRANCE: JANUARY 27
(Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs)
Last year (11/1/05) The UN passed a resolution establishing 27 January as an international day for Holocaust remembrance.
In doing so, the assembly urged the nations of the world to observe the day so that future generations will be spared acts of genocide.
Co-sponsored by 104 other nations, the resolution rejects Holocaust denial and encourages countries to develop educational programs about the horrors of genocide.
It also condemns religious intolerance, incitement, harassment, or violence based on ethnic origin or religious belief.
Assembly President Jan Eliasson said the memory of the Holocaust must be "a unifying historic warning around which we must rally; not only to recall the grievous crimes committed in human history, but also to reaffirm our unfaltering resolve to prevent the recurrence of such crimes."
Israeli Ambassador Dan Gillerman said the Holocaust "brought us face to face with the full extent of man's capacity for inhumanity to his fellow man," and that it served as a "critical impetus" for the development of human rights, the drafting of landmark international conventions on genocide, and the founding of the UN itself. (The UN resolution can be viewed at the IFA website www.ifapray.org. Click on the scrolling bar at the top of the page.)
Now, a word from Michael Ingram:
My father fought in WWII: it was so bad, my normally upbeat daddy wouldn't talk about it, other than to tell shipboard stories of beans for breakfast, and tricks played on shipmates...when asked about the fighting, he'd just say
"It was bad - I don't want to talk about it!"
Many of the eyewitnesses to the Holocaust are still alive today!
In spite of histories and the many books written by folks who lived through the holocaust, and suffered firsthand in the German extermination camps, are we now to believe it was all just a figment of our imagination?
Yet the truth is that many would rather choose to hate, and believe a lie, than to embrace the truth, and learn from it...
