The Shell That Binds Me

About how I am...how I can become just a shell of me...(poem of depression...most of mine are)
Step out.
I know you’re in there.
Behind those unfocused eyes.
Hiding in your mind.
Hoping no one will realize you’re not here.
You’re lost.
You don’t know where to go.
You found an escape.
It’s not paradise.
But it allows you to leave.
Become a shell of you.
You’re lost in thoughts.
Your shell is walking.
You wish you actually were invisible.
Not just treated like it.
Why do I do this?
Why do I talk to myself as another person?
Because of the shell.
