Nothing More
So little required, yet so much given. Still, we demand.
for tears You shed and warnings of woe?
What can I eagerly pay for the price You paid
that day?
Your love, nothing more my child,
and You looked down upon me
with a smile!
Oh, Father, how can You know of my love
from such a lofty throne above?
What can I anxiously do
to prove my heart worthy and true?
Love others, nothing more my child,
and You looked down upon me
with a smile!
But, Father, how do I love You and others
and call my enemies my brothers?
What can I perpetually do
to show myself and love to You?
Obey all my laws, nothing more my child,
and You looked down upon me
with a smile!
Oh, Father, You ask so little of me,
and yet You set my soul free!
I ask of You so very much,
and You give it with such a gentle touch!
You were even there when I
was a wayward child!
And, still, You look down upon
me with a smile!
