Nat King Cole is a highly esteemed vocalist from an era gone by. Like his contemporaries Sinatra, Tony Bennett, and similar great male lead singers, his legacy is repeatedly celebrated, and for good reason. This set offers 28 prime tracks from the Cole catalog. The final release will include a DVD as well.

Cole has one of those distinctive vocal styles and deliveries that are instantly recognizable. I was first introduced to this wonderful entertainer when I was a little boy, before I was corrupted and incited to revolt via rock ‘n’ roll music. Rock music still excites me although I find it interesting how we come full circle in our lives and connect with our earliest impressions, as we grow older and mature. All great music is connected to pleasant memories. I can remember my parents playing this music and singing along to it.

Now my children have the privilege of discovering this timeless music as well. I hope some day they give their children the same opportunities and memories to hold and cherish. That is how important and valid Nat King Cole’s music is. Its "Unforgettable," and even more so now as his daughter Natalie’s voice, dubbed into perhaps his most popular song, made it a touching duo that renewed the interest in his work and brought to light the many talents of Natalie. It really is a most beautiful call and answer duo even though it was created in the studio long after the man’s death, it still has magic and tremendous impact. In fact, all 28 tracks on this immense collection are pieces of music to be enjoyed again and again. Cole combined pop and jazz in a way that crossed over beautifully to invite many age groups into his world of recorded gems.

This CD is for any occasion and the kind of music that anyone with a real appreciation for good music would enjoy. He was without question one of the best ever. His voice was smooth, relaxing and distinguished. Cole was a unique talent that deserves this celebration 40 years since his passing. I hope we can do it all again when it’s his 50th anniversary. He may have left us but he did leave behind a slice of heaven for us to enjoy while we are still earthbound.
