Would I Betray You

Journey into public spheres with ardent hope and burning fever, would I betray you...
Would I Betray You
It was midday.
Rosters were crowing and
children were playing
in the alleys and on the flat rooftops

Would I betray you

The bulls were ploughing
if I enchain my play-guitar, forgive
but his father was a blind man
selling veils in our quarter.

Would I betray you

Journeys into public spheres
with ardent hope and burning fever
I thirst meeting you,
my beloved.

Would I betray you.

There is my veil, my course.
Oh, my beloved.
Children were playing
in the alleys and on the flat rooftops.

Would I betray you.
