Sporting an "I Love Snooker" logo Ronnie O'Sullivan overwhelmed Ian McCulloch 6-0 to carry his defence of the Masters title at Wembley Conference Centre into the quarter-finals.
McCulloch, who was detained until after midnight before concluding his 6-3 first-round win over Joe Perry, started promisingly with a 46 break but fell apart once he had lost the opening frame to O'Sullivan's 69 clearance.
"I've always had great support apart from a handful of people at one match who'd had a few to drink," said the twice world champion O'Sullivan, a reference to the boos that greeted him as he entered the arena for the final of October's Grand Prix.
Stephen Lee also enjoyed a whitewash over Stephen Maguire, who has shown few signs this season of playing to his No3 world ranking. "He was 35% on his game and he whitewashed me. That says it all," said Maguire disconsolately.
