Howard Stern Show: Frank Gifford Back in the Doghouse

Much to the shock and dismay of Kathie Lee Gifford, the 3-year ordeal that has consumed her family and her public and private life was rekindled during the December 14th airing of the Howard Stern Show. Frank Gifford’s former mistress, Suzen Johnson, with whom Gif was videotaped during an intimate rendezvous at a New York hotel, admitted to Howard that she had in fact heard from Frank since news of their relationship surfaced in 1997. When Stern followed up with a question about whether Frank was angry about the fact that she had betrayed him, she answered: "No. He wanted to know when we could see each other again."

Insiders say Johnson’s revelations during the interview have devastated Kathie Lee and brought all of the original pain back. Although the devoted mother and former Regis co-star firmly believes Johnson to be nothing more than a gold-digging con artist, the recent allegations have cast some doubt on Frank’s renewed fidelity.

Johnson also fielded questions during the interview about how the relationship began and revealed how Frank had originally hit on her during a flight on which Johnson was a flight attendant in 1993. She described Gifford as “a real smoothie” and also disclosed how Frank had called her from his family home and had given Johnson his office and private apartment phone numbers.

Insiders say that Gifford is vehemently denying any contact with Johnson after the now-famous 1997 tryst, but friends of Kathie Lee say that she remembers how strongly Frank denied the initial allegations at the time, before the photos were released that removed all doubt. It appears very likely that Frank will be watching this weekend’s Giants playoff game alone, and in the doghouse.
