As a business consultant who has worked in the UK, Europe and now New Zealand, I often come across clients who simply ignore the warning signs from the economy, even though they are often aware of it via television etc. In New Zealand (as an example) at the moment, interest rates are about 9.5% which is causing many business owners (and property owners) many sleepless nights. Whilst I'm not suggesting business owners can influence governments of their own national economy, they could be more proactive if they kept abreast of the situation. Preparing a simple business plan can quite often reveal some risks and threats. Business plan software can be found cheaply on the net. I often use software at Palo Alto.

Ruth King My grandfather always said that there were three types of business people, those who made mistakes and didn't learn from them so they repeated them over and over. The second type learns from the mistakes they made so they don't repeat them. The third type learns from the mistakes of others...saving themselves thousands of dollars and a lot of heartache.
To survive you need to study business and learn from others' mistakes. I've taken this to heart in the past 25 years starting and operating 7 businesses.		 6/20/2006
