Knee Pain Exercises Especially for Women

Need to strengthen knees because of knee pain? Because of their anatomy, women are more likely to have knee pain. However, much of this pain can be relieved with a few simple exercises.

I do believe that strengthening exercises can be very valuable in bringing the knee cap back into balance.

However, I do not believe that the entire picture is being looked at. If there is an imbalance in the muscles pulling the knee cap to one side, strengthening the antagonistic (opposite) muscles can in certain cases make the imbalance more pronounced in the long term. Leading to long term issues down the road.

Think of it this way. It wasn't like one day the person woke up and suddenly one muscle was weaker than the other pulling the knee cap off to one side. So for a deeper understanding of the situation would be to look at the tension pattern that is making the "stronger" muscle pull the knee cap off to one side causing the pain/tension/discomfort that the person is feeling.

If you exaggerate the tension pattern in the knee cap creating a position of comfort for the knee. The body's own self-corrective reflexes will engage and the knee/knee cap will let go of the pain/tension/discomfort it is holding onto. In doing so and taking the tension off of the knee the body will then be able to move the swelling and inflammation (lymph) out of the knee much easier on its own.
