Angela My partner and I were going absolutely crazy after 3 frustrating and anxious months of coping with a 'fussy eater' who turned her nose up at everything offered. I read the Dog Feeding suggestions and I realized I had created the problem, by leaving food out, hand feeding and overbearing coaxing since she was 4 months old. Within 24 hours the 'fussy eating' cycle has been broken! It's unbelievable, now we have a poodle literally 'woofing' down food that previously she wouldn't look at. In addition, even her attitude has changed towards me and I feel much more in control, I'm now the Alpha Female, not her!
I recommend anyone with a difficult and fussy eater to try it, it certainly worked for us. Just be firm and strong willed (believe me its tougher on you than the dog), but ultimately it will work for you too. THANK YOU!

Carla My dog suddenly became afraid of his food. I tried all of the above suggestions including other ideas. Nothing worked. This went on for several months until I discovered if I spoon feed him he will eat. He is actually afraid of it if I leave him alone. He will cry and walk away. He will try to approach the bowl and eat but then jumps away. Any ideas? 8/29/2007

You should not give pepsie or coke or anything with caffiene (eg chocolate) to your dog, as it can cause tachycardia and SVT, a potentially dangerously fast heart beat. Dogs usually have fast heart beats anyway and should not be given anything that increases it artificially unless the dog is excercising, (in which case obviously the heart will race) or if the vet prescribes medicine for a medical complaint.

peter newell if your sick pup won't take nourishment splash some pepsi or coke in they're water. Saved my pair of cross breeds when all else failed. 7/13/2006
