Sam I installed a tile floor just as you have described here with the membrane intalled and the durarock over it on the walls and then mortar on the floor as a base for the tile then i installed the tile on the floor with mortar. but that was a year ago and now all the tile on the floor is lifting and coming up, i dont know why, it seems like the water is soaking through the grout and into the mortar and getting under the tile. do you have any advise on how i fix this, i have already took all the tile up, it was easy, it just lifted out with a screwdriver . just to add this was not my first time installing tile, just first time in a shower floor, but i done it just as you described, as the tile store had told me when i had bought the tile. 2/22/2009
Louis Cincotta I have a question about the mortar " wet bed" you put down before the membrane liner. What do you use to make the wet bed? Do you just use a mortar mix or is tthere a special mix for this? 12/14/2007

Julia what if several pieces of tile on the shower walls have to be removed due to defective tile and then new tile reinstalled? what if the WonderBoard or Durock cement board is damaged in the process of removing the tile. does the WonderBoard or Durock cement board have to somehow be replaced even though you are not removing all the tile or exposing all of the WonderBoard or Durock? can the Thin-set or adhesive mortar be applied over the damaged WonderBoard or Durock when installing the new tile. thank you. 9/7/2006
