nancy if a dog bites my daughter in the face and needed 47 stitches i would put it down myself . That is an unfortunate situation but that little girl will be scarred for life. 9/26/2009
julie i know this is several months later, in response to the lady who's husband said no, i tell u when this happens again, sneak her to the vet. i can't stand to see any animal in pain. have put a few of my pets and farm animals down rather them suffer. 9/7/2009
julie thanks for the information. my pitbull has had several several ear infections, but this time she is shaking her head. she's never done that before. i have left a message for the vet first thing in the morning. so once again thanks for publishing these symptoms. 9/7/2009
Deborah Mahan It's wrong to blame the parents. Who would be able to keep a dog after a toddler had to get 47 stitches in her face? Even if it they had taken it in to a vet, it could come back at a later date, and unless they were right on top of the situation, it could happen then. Do you eat meat? Isn't that equally, if not, crueller (the conditions meat animals spend their short, sad lives before slaughter)? Also, a lot of people no longer have jobs... it's not like they were starving the dog. In a perfect world dogs would not bite and little children would not be scarred internally and externally. 7/4/2009
Diana Yesterday morning my dog was out in the field...lots of foxtails. She cried out in a yelp and my husband brought her inside. She would not let us touch the bottom part of her ear and held her head sideways and shakes her head. My husband thinks she was stung or bitten by something. She seems better today, still a little tender on her ear, but not holding her head sideways as much as shaking her head. What is your thought, foxtail or bite? I want to take her to Dr., husband says no. 6/7/2009
Stan H. Excellent article and information. My German Shep. has been having problems with ear infections and all the treatments through my"Vet" proved unsucessful. Was taking Cipro for 30 days but continues to have the infection. Someone sugested a drug called Avelox of which I have never heard of. 6/14/2008

c, wetherby My puppy has recovered from a very bad case of sarcoptic mange. He had several doses of antibiotics which I cannot remember the names now. His ears look red and puffy on the inside. Could he be like humans and get yeast infection from antibiotics? 9/30/2006
