monkeybone They are getting paid already, with a free education. 11/14/2009
Kristin Adkins im a jr in highschool and i play softball and i agree with athletes in college getting paid. theres alot of illegal payment because of athletes not having enough money. and besides that the coaches are getting paid millions and yes its there job but the athletes are doing most of the work. regular students can get money whenever they want but when it comes to the student athletes it a no. they work there hardest not to just play a sport but keep up with there college education. the NCAA's need to re-think things. and im actualy writting a report in school on this very topic.college athletes dont have time to get a regular job like non student athletes so its hard for them to make money. 11/12/2009
Bree I think college athletes should be paid but then again I dont. If they pay the athletes then the college would lose more money by paying staff, school and sports equitment ect... but the athletes deserve something in return. 10/28/2009
yusuf i am tired of people saying that college athletes shouldnt be paid for doing college sports ,because they should 10/22/2009

andy the Bible say that if you don't work you should not eat. playing is not working. you do not work sports, you play sports. there are too many people devoting time to playing in this country 4/4/2009

ally m a free ride in school is more than most students get...there is alot of expense in running the programs. They want top of the line equipment and coaching; it costs money and lots of it. Most students are barely making it why should athletes be the exception...on top of all the perks they already receive they also have exposure to high paying positions in the NFL and NBA..more than most of the students who after graduation have to search out work. 2/21/2009
foxhound sports is only for a season,im pretty sure with a good college education ,any student can get a decent part time job 12/6/2008
Gustavo Razo I think they shouldnt get pais that much because their more IMPORTANT jobs out there and they dont ive get paid half what the atheles are making NOW. 2/26/2008
JT Paying college athletes in my opinion is wrong. regardless of the NCAA rules and crap. yes, they bring great amounts of money to the school they represent. but college is college. the players are getting to study in the colleges/universities, paid tuition, dorms, food. etc. paying them will create alot of drama within the NCAA like it is in the pro leagues. Athletes should be grateful that they are going to a good university and representing it by playing on it's team. because, lets be honest, some athletes wouldnt be able to make it to the admissions based on their merits. but overall, paying the college athlete is wrong and i guess this is why alot of people wait to see the NCAA's because it's a real game and is treated like one too. no one involved, it honestly shows the true essence of an athlete. 11/27/2007
sam in my opinion college athlets should get paid if they reach high expectations in their class room. It would help to get some extra money when their in school, and playing a sport, because at times it can get rough 11/8/2007
POPPY i mean IT BURNS WHEN I URINATE SOMETIMES 10/10/2007
KG I believe that u r right. Because athletes do get hurt I should no, because I am 1. I also no that college cost alot and it would be a great help if colleges were to pay them. 4/24/2007
rob the ncaa brings in billions of dollars a year, shouldnt the athletes get a part of that? 4/23/2007
John L. Smith Me being a former head coach at Michigan State University I think that the athelets do need to be paid because every one knows that people already give them help and the NCAA doesn't know. 1/30/2007
melianie\ i don't think that theey should be paid for playing a game what about everyone else thats not talented in that area but wants to be. So one person can get paid for having fun and one has to do hard work that they barely get paid for. 1/16/2007
John well i believe in many gods, i also believe in witchcraft and my parents are on crack

Jason paying college athletes is stupid. Chris Weber can burn in hell 11/8/2006
jake i don't think college players should be paid.... if they are then it becomes boring because they won't try because there is no point to when your making money... 11/3/2006

Kynna Cunningha college students should not be payed to play, because isn't that what there going to college for? 5/18/2006
Tyrel Jensen There is a quote from the movie "Coach Carter" that goes like this..."Student-athlete. Student comes first." This is very true, and because student-athletes need to do well in school, they need to spend the time they have outside of practicing and competing in the classroom. This leaves no time for a job, and to have money for the other essentials in college. I don't think athletes should get a salary while in college, but they should be compensated for time they don't have to work. Not even a full-scholarship can cover all the demands of college. competeing in the classroom. This leaves no time for a job, and to have money for the other essentials in college. I don't think athletes should get a salary while in college, but they should be compensated for time they don't have to work. 4/17/2006
deeds pay 'em 12/12/2005
Bilbo Baggins Giving these kids money to live off of while attending the football or basketball season is what they need. If you rip your pants what do you do? Get new ones and with some of these kids poor they cant get a new pair like you. They need all the help they can get and buy the college giving them money to get essentials they have nothing. So with this said college athletes should get payed enough to live off of while attending the specif athletic season. 12/12/2005
frank yes they shouldnt
12/2/2005
Mark YOU NEED TO PAY THEM 11/30/2005
Deshun Yes athletes should be compensated for thier skill.
1. They bring an enormous amount of income to thier schools.
2. Athletes have to live on an limited budget which forces them to look in other area for compesation.

jordan i think college athletes should be paid 11/28/2005
marcus your a freaking genius 11/6/2005
Sam People that are in a band can play or perform with a professional group or band while they are in college. 10/17/2005
Sam A regular student isn't put in the situation that they could possibly get hurt everyday. 10/17/2005
Matt College athletes should be paid. The amount of money that is made off of these young athletes is not nearly the amount that their respective universities are making off of their performance. They are being used by these colleges for their abilities to get more profit into the schools bank account. Why do you think that colleges want the best athletes at their school? The better the athletes, the better the crowd, the more money made on tickets and merchandise. Plain and simple. Colleges need the best players to make the most money, and these athletes are being pimped. 9/28/2005
Ryan Flannery i belive they should get paid because they do so much work and put so much effort to get into the NFL NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAUGe 9/15/2005
Liz it is hard to juggle academics and any serious hobby. Life is not easy in college that is a fact. That doesnt mean that colleges should pay athletes. It is not there job to make sure the athletes are going to make rent. Athletes are getting an education and should be happy with that. Also paying college athletes goes against NCAA principle 2,9 that student athletes should be amatures and moticated primarialy by education and by the physical, mental and social benifits. Student athletes are theat student athletes, it is just as hard for them to juggle athletics, job and school as it is for a music major to juggle hours of practice a day, marchin for the band, jobs, and school 8/24/2005
Anthony McCall well lets see, I'm an althlete at a JC, and I'm receaving financial aid. There for it is hard to focus on a job, school, and my sport. (Football) so I'm saying, to those of us who are not receaving financial benifits could use a little money just to get by, maybe on a apartment, food, and just money to make it on. So hopefully this can be past so that "Athletes" don't have to worry about when is the next time I'm going to be able to get something to eat with out wonderring will I have enoght money for tomorrow. 7/9/2005
bob i love chicken 4/20/2005
jaohn they should be paid 3/28/2005
JRW in OHIO As for paying the college athlete, their tuition, room and board are often paid for buy the school. Right? Ok so then don't you think the athlete should be in school for the education and not to USE the school as a talent agency. Please the athletic departments have funds to give these "students" emegency money when needed they simply have to apply for it and wait for the approval. 3/8/2005
cody chang college athletes should get paid as much as college baskeeetball players 12/6/2004
deeds pay 'em 11/16/2004
Sissy Iron I think college athletes should not be paid. Because they get enough help from their schools, therefore like help paying their tuition, and scholarships for a full four year ride through college. 11/8/2004
Daniel Hoepfner I am a junior in high school and I play football so I know first hand how hard it is to juggle athletics and education, and that is just in high school there is a lot more work in athletics and education in college. The colleges want you to go there and play football yet they are not going to do anything for you. What if some poor kid is a great football player like me for example. If I get a scholarship to play football I can get an education for free but I can not afford anything else I mean my mom and dad together make like $15,000 a year, now what am I supposed to do. because like you said what about insurance I cannot even afford high school athletic insurance. if they wan tyou to play football for them I think they should have to pay you to play. 10/13/2004
K Is it not a United States custom to compensate one for valuable services - whether not they are an employee or not? Most of the colleges are not even concerned with the education of the player- so how can that be called "quality"? The NCAA is the greediest association seen by America. As said by Vince Carter - "Sometimes, it just doesn't seem fair. I'm at the No. 1 football school in the country right now, and I'm struggling to get groceries every month"
Does that sum things up for you?
