I think this is very helpful and true. These are the ways i've been tanking. They are very effective. This is the first time i read the article and my first real raid run was last night and this helped keep the end Boss of Kara in my grasp while eveyone else unloaded a can of Whoop A$$ on him. I did not lose Aggro ONCE. The Sheild Block and the Bash, sunder, and revenge with a lil bit of thunderclap mixed in was my groups life saver. This guy who wrote this knows his stuff. |

An amazing article. Kept my attention all the way through. Now I can effectively tank, for when I was strictly Fury warrior. Aimlessly attacking stuff in instances, I didn't help much. I'm only lvl 39 but this helped my warrior greatly! |

Somebody is plagerising someone else and I don't know who so I'll post the link to this exact same article on another site under another name and let you guys figure it out. It won't let me post the link so go to google the article title and you should find a hit on articlegeek dot com with teh same article under a different name. Good luck. |

This was a good article and exposed a lot of great points for those new to the Warrior class. It does, however, lack quite a bit in the realm of actual guidance on what gear is better, what talents are crucial, and the reality that there are quite a lot of Warriors who do not act as tanks but rather as DPS or purely for the purposes of PvP.
You mentioned that the main stats on gear to pay attention to are stamina, armor points, and defense. While I agree that these are all important stats to Warriors, tanking Warriors specifically, these stats are not all that a tank should be concerned with. Stamina is most definitely the primary stat a tank needs on his gear. If he doesn't have a lot of HP, he won't last long taking big hits. Defense is necessary based on the same logic. Defensive skills reduce the chance that a tank will suffer a critical hit (which, from end-game raid bosses, can easily be higher than 3k damage) and, thus, allow him to stay alive longer in order to keep the rest of the group from dying.
Armor points, however, are not as magnificent as nearly every guide seems to insist. Simple mathematics are all that's needed to understand that if 2000 more armor only reduces the amount of damage a tank receives by an added 10%, then a hit from a boss of 800 damage would only be reduced by 80 more damage than without that 2000 armor. This is typically the difference between carrying a shield and not, insofar as damage reduction from armor points in concerned. Shields are not important for tanking because of their armor. More important than the amount of armor a shield has is its amount of blocking points. Shields enable a tank to use Shield Bash, which breaks any spell an enemy is in the middle of casting, as well as generates a good deal of threat. With Improved Shield Bash, the ability can silence the target, as well, which disables a large range of spells and abilities an enemy can do. The end talent in the Protection tree, Shield Slam, is like Shield Bash on PCP. It doesn't break a cast that is in progress, rather it can remove a spell or buff that has already been cast. Not to mention that it deals a decent amount of instant damage using the shield alone: all other end talents use your primary melee weapon and resets the time of your weapon speed. Shield Bash does not.
Agility is an incredibly important stat for Warriors to pay attention to. It is the most versatile stat in the game, giving four different benefits, all of which are helpful to a tank. Each agility point increases armor points by 2. Every 20 agility points increases dodge rates by 1% and critical hit rates by 1%. It also increases ranged attack power, which may not be very useful for a main tank, but does come in handy in certain circumstances of off-tanking in which only range DPS should be applied to a boss for various reasons.
Last Stand is not crucial as a talent and is rather a waste of three points which could go elsewhere that would be much more of a help. The talent will give a Warrior 30% of his HP added on, which for a tank with 6000k HP, is a lot, but only lasts 20 seconds. When the 20 seconds are over, that additional 30% disappears and about 95% of the time that simply means: you die. Chances of 20 extra seconds allowing your to clean up any present mobs and thus halt any damage you take so you can use First Aid (if a healer is a few seconds too slow, that means he is a few seconds behind, which means when you are at low health again, such as after that 30% fades off, there is no reason why your healer would be able to save you then, either) are so slim as to make the talent nearly worthless.
And as one of the previous commenters mentioned, Anticipation is a no-brainer must-have for tanks. As is another ability which you failed you mention: Deflection. |

You can also use a threat meter add in to watch the group's threat or the entire raid. |

Anticipation?? Easily one of the best talents for warriors. GG |
