Nathan Misinformed again! Effexor and Effexor XR is NOT a tricyclic!!! It is a SNRI, NOT SSRI either, they are alike, only it also reuptakes norepenephrine and in a high enough dose dopamine, all in descending order. It is also closely related to Ectasy, as it was first marketed as "Prozac with a punch" and a phenthylamine analog. Thank youuuu 12/31/2007
