Holly Best article I've read so far. I want to work on my diet, not take meds to help with acid reflux. I drink a TON of water, especially when I eat - about 16-20! Makes a lot of sense. 7/9/2009
Justine As someone who has GERD, Acid Reflux has been a bit of a give and take battle over the years. Be it heartburn, a soured stomach, or gaseous pains and needing to burp, it seems every time I even sip a bit of caffeine, I have some digestive discomfort. I've found that the old standby of bread and water can't help, and chamomile tea can only aleviate symptoms if I'm not full. I'm only twenty-one, and already I have to take four rolaids to achieve some sort of soothing effect! Luckily, a friend of mine suggested mint gum, sugar free preferrable. Mint is a natural stomach relaxer, and the chewing almost distracts me from the burning in my throat. Raw potatoes also seem to work wonders- the starchier, the better. 7/4/2009
mary chinelli I want to thank you for a insight approach to my problem. I had two surgeries within 4 months to remove appendix then gall bladder. I started having continual acidy throat and ball like feeling in my throat since the last surgery and through the night. I was treating it wrong with the antacids and waiting to get my hands on the prescriptions. I once had read to do vinegar to cancel out the acid but long forgot it. Like protein gets out protein. Well I mixed some vinegar and ginger and gulped it with a face ( blech!). I burped some relief and waiting for more to happen. Anyway, thanks for your input to help me quicker since I was getting concerned about another health issue now surfacing. Right now I am unemployed and didn't have any money to purchase not a . Glad I could get this before things got worse. Thank you ! ~ m 1/22/2009
