I got a call from DOVE this evening. I told them just about the same thing as you told them. It just so happens my husband is an actor and has had roles in some of those movies that Dove, wal-mart, and blockbuster have censored. I guess parents these days aren't doing a great job of censoring what their kids watch so now DOVE thinks they have to do it. |

OMG! I just received this call and went online to find out who these Dove agents are. After she (and I think HER name was Tammy -- hah!) wrapped up her speech and said that "most respnnsible adults feel this way -- do you agree with this?' I replied "Absolutely not!" She paused long and injured before continuing, "Perhaps I should elaborate on our views . . ." Like anyone else who believes in freedom of choice, I interrupted her and said "No thanks," put down the receiver, and went back to watch WWE Raw. I was particularly annoyed by the comment "Most parents are frustrated that their only option is to limit their kids' TV watching." That's not a good enough option? Are the rest of us to be subjected to their restrictions to make their lives more comfortable? I think not!

I liked the provocative tone that Tammy so greatly addopts. It was funny and interesting. However I am not sure DOVE D-O-V-E (hehe) should be critisised as much because they do indeed have good intentions and people who take intiatives like them are few... But nevertheless I liked the article;it gave me another perspective I hadn't exaclty thought about. |

Good Job Deb! I received that same call about a month ago and made the same points, responsible parenting, "family friendly" media (movies, TV...) already do exist.... but Tammy was persistent so I had to be the one to initiate the end of the "conversation" by hanging up.
Maybe (and this is HUGE maybe) if Tammy c/o D-O-V-E hear this message enough they'll get the point that they should be encouraging "responsible parenting" instead of sly censorship. Or they could be _really_ bold and advocate what the writer of this article has chosen to do -- get rid of the TV in your house all together :-) |

The Missouri Attorney General reached a settlement with Dove. $70,000 fee and Dove can't call people in Missouri on the Do Not Call list. |

Actually, Dove Foundation is a front for an illeagal operation to telemarket videos through a for-profit partner, bypassing the do-not-call list. See the missouri attourney general's web site for a press relase on the restraining order against dove. And complain to the fcc's do-not-call registry email address if they call you. |

I just received the same phone call from Tammy and she refused to listen to the fact that I wasn't interested in her survey. How does one stop carities from calling us at home since they are not covered under the do not call regulations. I called back the same number to have my number put on their do not call list but they still have the ability to anoy anyone they feel they want to without consiquence. |

I just got this same call today and when I was asked if I agreed that there was a problem with the film making industry I said no so then I was asked if I had children and/or grandchildren and said yes...so the caller proceeded to attempt to convince me that no one makes 'family friendly movies'. I asked him if he had ever heard of the Disney company...naturally I got no response to my question.
I went on to tell the caller there was a simple way for the members and supporters of Dove to take control...it's known as responsible parenting (it worked for me) and when they stopped wasting so much of their time trying to cram their morals and beliefs down the throats of others they will have more time to spend being responsible parents instead of expecting the world to do it for them. IMHO the Dove Foundation has a hidden (or maybe not so hidden) agenda...and that is to try to force us all to think like them...and are not at all about protecting children. |
