Abby Day Oh my gosh! First off so everyone knows my husband, a U.S. Marine, is currently deployed to Iraq so as you probably know I'm very angry from reading this article. The only reason people at Benefit Management Admin have freedom is because of the brave men and women serving this country. From many years back and now, my husband along w/ thousands of other spouses put their lives at risk for this country. I have to wonder for weeks sometimes if he is ok. He barely gets sleep, eat and he has to take cold showers most of the time b/c there is no hot water right now. It's 50 degrees there right now. You know I didn't know that phone kisses could feel so good. Even though we don't talk but a few minutes "maybe" once a week, as long as I get my "I love you's" and my "phone" kisses it puts the biggest smile on my face. A very close friend of mine lost his left leg and almost his right fighting for this country. I was with his wife when she got the call. That hit close to home. He is in the same company as my husband so you could only imagine what was going through my head. Now the people at Benefit Management Admin get to go home to their family every night, watch TV, eat a nice hot meal and take their nice hot showers. Sleep next to their loved ones and kiss their loved ones and not over the phone. They don't have to worry about their loved ones getting shot at or losing a body part. If my husband came home with no arms and no legs I would be grateful just to have him home. I don't think people realize how much "we" (meaning military spouses) actually go through. Even when they are home it's a hard enough job. We go through periods of time w/o our husbands for 7 mns, 1 yr and even a yr and a 1/2 and some people complain for not seeing their loved ones for one week. We will miss most holidays together, birthdays and anniversaries. We just got married April 30, 2005...yeah our first Thanksgiving, Christmas, Valentines Day, his birthday and possibly our one year anniversary he's going to miss....but you know I love him to death and everyone in this country needs to realize that these men and women do a lot for this country and sacrifice a lot for this country. I didn't realize what all they did until I married into the military. You know the saying is true, "Being a military spouse is the hardest job, but someone has to do it!" Please just everyone be grateful you have your loved one to hold tonight. I have a pillow I hold until my husband gets home. 11/12/2005
