Danger on the Internet

Thanks to Google Earth - Explore, Search and Discover service, terrorists will no longer have to spend human and monetary resources to gather information about high security installations that they wish to target. They can now access it by logging on to http://earth.google.com from anywhere in the world.

Roland I agree with the author that Google Earth gives terrorists a lot of extra free information for planning their malicious actions. However, the images of city areas are not in 3D (apart of 3D models of skyscrapers), and planning of sabotage actions always involves local expeditions to get detailed information about security measures in place and so on.
So using Google Earth may be useful for initial planning and target selection, but it is far from enough to finish a complete sabotage plan.
As far as I know, in the Netherlands, parts of the Google maps are blocked (palaces, army buildings and so on). this can be done for more countries.
