Mark Curran Its a myth that many people even think the Civil war started over slavery. We always here this "correction" -- but I don't know anyone that thinks the civil war started over slavery.

Lincoln TURNED the civil war into a question of slavery. And he answered it -- slavery had to go.

Since Lincoln nor the north even started the civil war, you can't assing a motive to them for starting it. They didn't start it.
