One of the world’s most successful black celebrities, Oprah Winfrey, is being criticized for not attending the funeral of the man who may have paved the way for her celebrity—black publisher John H. Johnson.

Liz I don't think she should be criticized for not being able to attend, it would be different if she were closer and chose not to, but she was in hawaii so thath makes it more difficult. she paid her respect with her tribute show and flowers and cards. 9/15/2005
