MGrant Your description of the operation of an optical mouse is completely wrong. No grid is needed, the DSP works off images of what's under the mouse--paper/plain desk surface/whatever. You have the grid mouse that did not have DSp mixed up with the modern LED based DSP mouse 5/8/2009
