Jerry I don't understand how "fuel vapor obstructs engine". Engine is operated by mixture of air and vaporized fuel, right? Why fuek vapor obstructs it?

My '83Ford LTD (97K miles) recently did not start until the engine has been cooled down by one or two hours. I really do not know why it is like that. I need help from all car experts. Thanks.

Eric Make sure all fuel lines are located away from the engine's surface. If a fuel line is resting against the hot engine's surface (like on the intake manifold) when the engine is off, it will increase the chance of vapor lock on carbuerated vehicles. I had that probkem on my truck. Hope that helps. 9/16/2006
Mike Robbin my 94 silverado, after sitting for about a half hour, will start then stop right away ,when its hot. starts fine cold. after cranking on it and playing with the gas peddle I can get it running, any ideas? 6/30/2006
Rolando Ok. So, what else can you do besides waiting a few minutes? 6/28/2006
Mario Andretti So... your solution is to just let the car sit for a while??? So if one stalls in traffic, just get out and put some pylons on the road until you're good to go??? With the crazy interweb, there are a thousand pages that will give better advice than this. Why waste your time 6/1/2006
