Hi Isha, In almost all the big projects which are strict on quality ... testing is considered and brought inn right from the beginning i.e. requirement phase. The test plan is generally developed based on the requirements (after requirement freeze) ... based on the the test plan all the test cases and scenarios are prepared.
In some companies/projects ... test plan, test cases and test scenarios are created as a separate project ... which occurs after initial development of the application/system.
Hope this will help! (Please do not hesitate to correct me if I am stating anything that is not correct) |

Hi Nilesh,
Thank you for your reply. I would like to know when we create test plans, test Scenarios and test cases (at which phase) in V model?
Thanks in advance. |

Hi Sam, Unit testing in true sense can help you look at bigger picture, but bit by bit. What it means is, if there are 100 forms in an application you are developing and if you carry out unit testing on each and every form ... it will obviously help you find out and confirm if you have coded properly ... but it will also help you understand if you have built exactly what is expected. And so you can say that Unit Testing does try meeting validation purpose, but its bit cumbersome to validate entire system using unit testing and so other type of testings are introduced.
Hope this will help you! |

Hi Isha, First of all, System testing comes at the end of any system being developed. As name suggests, the testing is carried out on entire system for and with various parameters.
V model is same as VV model.
Hope this helps! |

According to your definition of validation - "Validation is a process of finding out if the product being built is right" or "if you build the right product", the unit testing can not fulfill the validation purpose, instead, it verifies if you build the code right (satisfying the requirements). Am I right? (sgao2000-hotmail-com). |

Hi Nilesh,
My name is Neeraj, I am currently working as a team lead in one of the leading BPO's in pune but now want to shift and persue career in software testing. Becuase of thsi I am now using internet intensively to find and gather as much materail as possible regarding testing.
I saw many sites however as soon as I came across your article I was really impressed by the kind of language you have used and the details of each phase of testing. All I need is an overall knowledge rather that going in depth of each topic and your articel serves this purpose perfectly.
I have also recommended your article to many of friends as well and they are also quite excited to learn from them.
Nice work keep it going.
And Thanks Ofcourse. |

Hi Sushma, Thank you very much for your invaluable comments and help in improving our information. We however are writing the contents based on the standard definitions, which I am sure cannot be wrong. However, we will try our level best to re-examine the article and try to figure out if we have really mixed the wrong concepts.
I assure you, if this article is representing wrong information, it will soon be reworked upon and right information will be presented to all the readers.
Thank you very much! Nilesh Parekh |

The article is good well organized and dealt at high level about Verification and Validation. BUT somewhere the basic definition of Verification and Validation has been mis represented ... I felt. If you go by the definition ..right product.. and ..product right.. terminologies... when we check if the right product is built then we are validating . Implying anything on the user end checks if the right product has been built. hence User testing or Acceptance testing ALONE should be Validation and all the remaining reviews and testing types should be Verification. Going by this analysis ,which I am pretty sure is right, the article addressed the basics wrongly. It needs to be reworked upon.... I am currently working as Associate manager Process - Applabs technologies |
