MC Food coloring, while "non-toxic" is not designed for use on the skin. For optimum safety buy a face paint kit that is FDA compliant as a cosmetic. Many can be purchased for very reasonable prices at craft or costume stores or on line. 7/18/2008

ashley what is COLD CREAM? 9/3/2006
Lisa Rickels This recipe has been circulating the internet for years, and I cringe every time I see someone advising people to paint that "goop" on the face of a poor unsuspecting child. First off, it says to use food coloring, which every mother who has ever dyed an egg knows will stain the skin for days. Then it says to use a starch, which will dry out your skin and make it itch. And then to top it off, it calls for the use of cold cream, which has a burning sensation on the skin, and can burn the eyes. This mixture of "ingredients" should NEVER be applied to a child's face. I would think that, considering your site is meant to offer helpful and safe advice for families that you would want to discourage people from using anything that could harm a child. Noone should have to make their own face paints when there are so many places to purchase safe products that are also economical. 8/2/2006
