Personality, your own self

Reflections about one self can be rather alarming, especially if you live with an unknown heightened self esteem.

prerna Hi Pam,

Thank you for writing to me. I am glad that you posed this question. Most teens and "growing up" kids think and feel that they know just about everything... My feeling is that you let them be. Even if they make mistakes, let them be on their own. You may give in subtle reminders as in a "growing Up" book or something to that effect.

But whatever you do, take it with sackfulls of salt. Don't make them feel that you are going through hell. When you have to deal with grave situations you somehow forget all the knowledge that books have taught you....simply because you think from your heart.

So take my advice, don't push too hard! You might want to think of innovative ideas of making them understand that maturing comes with age and experience.

All the best!

Cheers

PRERNA

Pam Dear Prerna,
I was just surfing the net for teenage parenting articles and came across this website and your article. I am a mom of 2 17, 18 yr old boys.
I am the more involved parent and of late am experiencing the ` mom leave my life alone' crunch which i knew would come but i feel so hurt everytime they talk rudely. perhaps you can tell me something of your own life to hel.
