Shalare I think that Ray Charles is a well loved person and had a dream that he wanted to fulfill. There were a lot of road blocks in the way of that dream but he was an amazing musician! The first time that I watched his movie it was like a motivation for me to keep going toward my goal and not think about all the things that have happened in my past and not letting them get in the way. I was about 8 when I watched his movie and I didnt think that I would like it because he was into drugs and that wasnt the life that I wanted to live. I learned from that movie. I look at this biography of Ray Charles and I think about how my life could have been like a lot of how his was but I can still change it and not do drugs. Thats what a lot of my life was and I got away from it and chose something else to go toward. Thanks Ray and you are an inspiration to me! 11/18/2010

bintmundo Actually, Ray Charles didn't direct the movie "Ray" and was considered something of a nuisance on set. Jamie Fox refused to meet with him other than briefly because he wanted to play the young Ray Charles, not be influenced by the blithering old man Charles had become. I found the movie "Ray" to be tedious in the extreme, without a plot of any interest and only redeemed by a voyeuristic fascination of Jamie's characterisation. Ray Charles is best left to his music only because, as a man, he has not a thing to offer. 3/29/2005

Ray Charles may have been a brilliant musician and 'showman', but his life was "all about Ray". 73 isn't old age therse days; Ray Charles was a substance abuser and his liver finally gave up. Shiane Ray Charles was a wonderful man he inspires me to never give up. My favorite song that he wrote is, "Georgia on my mind".I might just be 13, but he touched my heart with his songs I wish I could of met him before he passed away. He still is inspiration to all of us. I loved the movie Ray he did a wonderful job helping to direct it. If ray was here I would tell him I love him.
