Red Velvet Cake Recipe

Food for the Sinner’s Paradise, the Devil’s Food Cake, was originally made in startling red color, though its flavor was a mild chocolate. Though the use of color has been discontinued in most places, it retains its more urbane name – Red Velvet Cake.

melissa first the recipe tells the chef to use a "LOT" of dark brown sugar, but fails to mention how much. furthermore, spellcheck doesn't know that the "four" that is to be sifted is actually flour...the reader has to figure that out. In short, a nice recipe ruined by careless authorship. 10/15/2005
Tina It would be nice if all the ingredients were listed in order to make this cake? How much sugar? How much sour cream? Also, the recipe asks for brown sugar but I don't see that either. So......if those things were present it might be a very good cake. 10/10/2005
