Bread Pudding Recipe

For a dish that began life as the `poor man’s pudding’, it has been an interesting journey of seven centuries. The first bread pudding was just a means of utilizing stale bread, but today it no longer holds this dubious distinction. Bread pudding, with its various additives, is now a great dessert in its own right.

Alyssa I think These are kind of hard, is there anything simple, but yet still sweet! :) 9/24/2009
Joy Bells Although these all sound delicious, they are not what I was looking for. In the 60's my mother-in-law used to bake a bread pudding that was very stodgy, had some flour, butter or lard in the mix, and the bread was soaked in warm water. It was good warm or cold and she used to send my husband, her son, with a hunk of it in his lunch...delicious. 8/3/2008

Mz. terry mason Thanks for the recipe. It was just what I was looking for. This is basicly how I make my bread pudding, but all of my recipes are still in OH. I recently moved to CA and I couldn't remember exactly how the recipe went. 4/14/2005
mmmmmmmmmmmm Did you ever hear of a festival or a contest focused on bread pudding? I heard such a rumor but have not been able to pin it down and so seek your help. If you have any idea or insight into there being a festival for bread pudding would you favor me with a reply, please?
