John Barr We are interested in purchasing any old steel casement or double-hung windows that your company removes and replaces for your customers.

We will also provide removal of the windows in situations when that works.

Thanks.

Gabe Luna Hi,

I noticed that your site has great traffic for window replacement related searches. I wanted to get in contact with you personally to explore possibly working together.
I run a company that has a nationwide network of window and remodeling contractors and I’m interested in generating more homeowner leads for my contractors. I have many direct relationships with sites similar to yours that place our banners, text links or iframes on their sites to convert homeowners into interested leads that we pay for. Since our window contractors are hungry for work we are able to offer top tier payouts for these types of leads.

Dane Douglas Have you any experience with commerical windows changing from aluminum to vinyl using the windows with built in blinds. 1/21/2009
Sandra Have a very old (30+) double hung vinyl frame dual pane window. How could I get a hair-line crack at the top edge on the interior panel {only}after all these years. The top is very high, unreachable and very sheltered. 10/31/2008
Les Veal Good article. Here is the challenge. It is a sliding frame window with one Dual Pane in permenant position in the aluminum frame and the other slides (right -to- left) to open where it is covered by a screen. The aluminum window from is over 25 years old. The sliding section is dual paned and the outer window pane is broken. The sliding window is 21 7/8" x 44 1/4". How do I take the sliding frame with the broken window out of the frame installed permenantly into the house. My plane is to take this unit to a professional and have the glass installed. I will then put the "fixed" sliding glass window frame back into the full side window frame unit. 8/25/2008
best for the $ Pretty good.! Did you explain how difficult it is to remove the window ffrom the vinyl frame? I stored my window until the double stick tape dried out.. I do not know a local company which will replace my 42" vt 45" dual pane glass window in my vinyl frame. Many companies charge more for the replacement than is cost to buy a low priced window window. 8/20/2008
Ian thank you. I have enough information now that I will not attempt to repair my dual pane window. only 1 (outer glass) is broken. so I called several places and they want from $50 to $180. said that they would have to take out both . doesn't sound right to me said that they would have to put in all new seals. nothing is wrong with the inner one. thanks for your help 1/27/2008
ANTHONY CERNIGL DEAR JOHN,
I'M CONVERTING MY WOOD WINDOW SAHES TO DOUBLE -PANE. I'VE CONVERTED 4 WINDOWS THUS FAR WITH GOOD SUCCESS, PRINCIPALLY BECAUSE THE WOOD SASHES ARE IN GREAT CONDITION. I'VE BEEN USING 3/16" SQUARE WOOD SPACERS TO SEPARATE THE GLASS; THE THICKNESS OF THE MUNTINS DOESN'T ALLOW MORE SPACE THAN THIS. IN ORDER TO SAVE TIME , I WOULD LIKE TO USE FULL LENGTH RUBBER SPACERS INSTEAD OF WOOD. DO YOU KNOW ANY COMPANIES THAT MANUFACTURES RUBBER SPACERS OF 3/16"X3/16" DIMENSIONS? ANY ASSISTANCE WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

elizabeth howdy there,

johnmr12 Whenever you get moisture or cracks in a dual pane window, you don't need to go back to the window manufacturer to have them repaired. Any full service glass shop in your area can get just the sealed dual pane glass, then they swap out the bad one. The actual frame of the window isnt disturbed. Look in your local phone book under "Glass". Doing it yourself on a vinyl frame can be a bit tricky. 3/25/2006
Dana Brown I have Pennco windows on my 5 year old new construction home as well. Mine cracked early on. Up until last week I have used them with crack, until they finally broke last week. I cannot find a Pennco supplier in my area. I also contacted 6 firms and no one can get me windows to replace them. My only option is to change out and replace all 8 windows on front of home! Anyone know a supplier in the Washington DC area? 3/13/2006
Larry Davenport We have pennco windows in our 8 year old house. We have 6 windows that have developed moisture between the panes and now some of the windows have cracked. They are vinyl windows. It is a big problem in our neighborhood and started in some houses within 4 years. They were all new construction. I am fairly handy. Is this something I can repair fairly easy or is it to complex for the DIY guy? Each window is 25" by 33". Any idea of what it would cost per window to hire someone to repair? 1/2/2006
johnmr12 Mark, I have not heard of that. But I have been semi retired for the last couple of years, so it's very possible that this might be something new. You are going to have to remove the panel in order to get to the spacer, so it seems to me you wouldn't be saving anything on labor. How would you get to the spacer without removing the pane og glass? 7/9/2005
Mark Sharfstein John......

Are you at all familiar with a technique whereby one would drill a small hole in a unit's spacer in order to extract or otherwise dry out moisture that has condensed on the panes, presumably due to seal failure ??? Specifically I have been speaking to a lady who has one unit in a high rise...glazed from the outside...that (15 year old, out of warranty) unit has condensate inside the airspace and will cost over $3k to R&R.........someone recently mentioned to me a "new technique" of drilling, drying, and introducing a gaseous dessicant or drying agent to forestall another accumulation event???
