If anything, it's the fan's fault for lionizing Manson (i'm an avid manson worshipper, so I'm guilty), the man has done nothing worth the bitter titles given him. What must be maintained, though, is that he is a shock-rocker with no real intention of helping anyone that will not in turn benefit himself. Steve Vai, a famed musician, has said over and over again, "Beware of what you write. You become what you write." If this statement holds any truth to it, which I know it does from experience (have you ever heard of an insane country artist? No! But you hear about rockers and some rappers), then all you have to do to show that Manson is no good would be to read his lyrics. Over and over again you will find messages of hate, violence, and lessons to be "obscene" (as heard in his song mOB-SCENE). So in terms of being a great person, he fails. But, what he does accell in would be visual imagery in his videos and cd jackets. In the many years that shock rock was available to the masses, I do not believe that anyone could top Marilyn Manson's video for Sweet Dreams. |

Manson claims he uses many different philosophies incorporated into his music, such as Nietzsche, Christianity (of all things), LaVey Satanism, and many more. But doesn't this conflict? "When I'm God everyone dies", proves he really doesn't know what Neitzsche is talking about. Neitzsche was the first man to say "God is dead and man is free." Using that as a metaphor, Manson brings this into his music. Also bringing LaVey Satanism, and other conflicting ideas. Manson loves conflict and hatred, and he seems to think it only makes him stronger.
