Abstinence is definetly the best method to teach teens about safe sex. No teen can get pregant or an STD (in normal circumstances) unless they have sex. This is also good because, while it may not be easy, abstinece is very simple and easy to remember. Without STDs or an unwanted pregnancy, teens will be safer and happier without having sex at all. Granted, if teens are going to have sex, they should use some sort of protection, but the best course of action is to not have premarital sex at all. |

hello! I`m a girl from austria, not australia...
and I think it`s better when u get more information in school or in youre family about sex, because a lot of teenagers have sex and I don`t think so that they hear to there teachers when they say:"No Sex". they do it! And when u give the teenagers information about it, they get protect. By us in Austria is it so that we get a lot information so it`s not so a problem. (...) |

Abstinence only education is a bunch of bull. We are always going to have sex, and it doesnt matter what you tell us. So I wonder which is better safe or unprotected sex? |

This is ludicrous. Not teaching teens how to use contraception is like putting a ticking bomb in someone's hand and not telling them how to disarm it. Eventually the bomb is going to go off- no matter what you tell teens not to do- and without them knowing what to do about it, you're putting them at risk for all kinds of diseases as well as possible pregnancy. Get with it, people, this is the 21st century. |

i think that this is a very inspiring messege for teens. i belive that not having sex till merrige can help you achive personal goals without the thought of getting a disease that can affect you for the rest of your life and i agree with that wery much sooo. |

I think that teaching kids that abstinence is the best way to keep from getting pregnant or STDs is great....but I also think that kids need to be taught about condoms and the correct way to use them so that the kids that don't choose abstinence know about condoms and how to use them. |
